YES, I used vintage Cranston fabric to make my jam jars look adorable.
Did I feel guilty about cutting into fabric nearly as old as I am? I had 2nd thoughts. Then I remembered that a sewist before me missed out on the joy of using this sweet strawberry pattern. Saving it for something special then never getting that moment.
What if these jams that I intend to give as gifts are that something special? The Universe has conspired in crazier ways!
Do you have "special" or vintage fabric languishing on a shelf? It's ok to use it! I've made a business out of reclaiming beautilful farbics that were kept for "special projects" that never came. It's sad!
Making the jam, dressing the jars, all of it made me happy. Receiving sweetly adorned jars made the recipients happy. It's a tiny way to bring joy to yourself and others. Use the fabric. There will always be more sweet prints to discover.
